Before the formation of Toto the members of the group did session work for Steely Dan, [3] Seals and Crofts,[4Seals and Crofts,[4] Boz Scaggs and Sonny and Cher. Guitarist Steve Lukather was the band's lead singer.
About Toto
Toto was founded in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also well-known studio musicians with Boz Scaggs) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The name comes from the Latin word which means "all all-encompassing," the group was determined to explore every style of music.
Toto's third release, Turn Back, was an unfulfilling success in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and tour made them a household name around the world.
After a gap of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in 1986. It marks a step away from the ballads of previous albums and includes some heavy rock. This album was their first album to go platinum in North America.
During the recording process for the fifth album The group loses its manager and is faced with financial problems. They decide to record a new album and change their name a different producer. 첫가입 꽁머니 , the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, is now replacing Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and provides the band with a much-needed boost.
The band released Mindfields in 1999, and then embarks on a major tour across the globe. After 토토 꽁머니 in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and continues to record their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band's cover of their hit Africa during a recent tour. Toto's touring band is rounded out by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.

After Isolation, Toto took a break from the spotlight and went on hiatus. The band members of the group a chance to pursue solo projects. In 1996, the group returned to tour and release an album. This was the first time all of the original members were on stage together for more than 10 years.
The next year, Toto toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band. This was the last time that all the original members of Toto were on stage together. The band broke up again after this. However, Toto reunited in 2010 to perform a benefit for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time all original Toto members appeared performing together for more than 31 years. The original members were joined by keyboardist Greg Tambu who filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate who filled in for Shem von Schroeck.

Toto is one of the most popular bands in rock music. They have had huge hits like "Rosanna," Hold The Line," and "Africa," which has been certified as platinum 8X. With a wide range of influences, ranging from progressive rock to world beats to jazz and soul, the group continues to please their fans with their anthemic arena rock.
Despite their fame, the band faced several difficulties in their later years. In 2002 keyboardist David Paich and drummer Greg Phillinganes were forced to take a medical leave of absence. Shem von Schröeck was brought in to replace him, but the band wasn't the same without Paich or Phillinganes. In 2008, Toto decided to take off from touring following a string lineup changes and a disappointing series of releases. Toto returned to touring in 2012 after the release of the album 40 Trips Around The Sun.
The album marked a return to form for the band and the tour was accompanied it with sold-out shows across North America and Europe. Toto's reunion was helped by the addition of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, who had both returned to the band.
Toto's music is as popular today as it was during the 1970s and 1980s, gaining new audiences with each generation. Their success has made them a permanent fixture of pop culture. Their live performances are always packed with energy and excitement.
